My biggest dilemma after moving back from overseas was having to minimize my cupboard space. Going from having an extra room for your clothes (I know all you fashion bloggers and junkies can relate!) to sharing one cupboard was a lot more difficult than I imagined. Recently however I got some extra space and although its not a huge amount more it does make a difference so I decided to do a little bit of closet reorganizing so everything fits perfectly!
Here are some tips to get the most out of your closet space big or small!
1. Throw everything out! Yes I mean EVERYTHING! Starting with clean fresh cupboards will definitely help you but things in the right places.
2. Go through your clothes and make different heaps. You should have one of things you want to keep, things for charity and if you feel like making some extra money a heap for items you want to sell. These days there are loads of places you can
sell second hand clothes and there is actually a big market for thrifting. Some people even consider it chic.Who knows you might even be able to afford some brand new goodies you have been lusting after!
3. Now you need to decide where everything goes, jackets hanging, tees folded etc and make these into different groups. I always find it easier to put items I wear the most in the front or sometimes I like to color code for easy dressing.
4. Save space by having boxes for belts or handbags and hooks behind doors for extra items.
5. If you have some really pretty shoes or handbags why not display them outside your cupboard.
6. Look down! You might have extra space underneath your hanging clothes that you are wasting, adding some shoe racks could turn one row of shoes into three!
7. Drawer organizers are great! You can use them for anything from belts to camisoles and tees.
8. If you put your shoes in boxes try and get clear ones. This way you will be able to easily see what is going on!
9. Vacuum seal winter items in summer and vice versa. Bulky sweaters could be taking up a lot of space!
10. Get some storage in other places. I desperately want to get a bed that has storage underneath and I already have a vanity chair that has storage inside for all my makeup and hair tools!
