Over the weekend we left Cape Town and took a drive out to the pretty town of Franschhoek (French corner). The weather was ideal for chilling in front of the fire and drinking red wine and that is exactly what we did! On Friday we had a big lunch at Allora (the lamb shank was delicious!) and then on to the pretty cottage where we were staying for drinks. Saturday was spent walking around town and we visited Le Chocolatier for hot chocolate and Dutch East for wine. Later we actually went back to Dutch East to have their awesome burgers for dinner! Sunday morning we had breakfast at the quaint Kalfi restaurant and then the drive back to Cape Town began!
We dont have a lot of very cold weather in my opinion in Cape Town but August always pushes my limits with long rain days where my fingers go all icy. Thank goodness winter is peppered with stunning sunny days otherwise I would not be able to make it through! Everyone knows about my aversion to winter clothing so my sister kindly lent me her boots, jacket and scarf as I was so ill equipped for the weather. xx
